Blue Origin has unveiled the Power Tower, a vertical solar array system designed to provide consistent energy for lunar bases. The structure stands approximately 20 meters tall and is capable of generating over 10 kilowatts of power once deployed on the lunar surface.

The system is specifically engineered for the lunar south pole, a key target area for NASA's Artemis program. The vertical design allows the solar panels to rise above surface obstacles and shadows, ensuring better light exposure compared to traditional flat-panel arrays while minimizing the footprint on the ground.

The Power Tower features a modular architecture, allowing it to supply energy to landers, communication systems, scientific instruments, and lunar rovers. It is intended to serve as a core power source for small bases or as a component of a larger lunar energy network.

The project builds upon previous work by Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin subsidiary, which developed the Lunar Array Mast and Power System (LAMPS) and participated in NASA's Vertical Solar Array Technology (VSAT) project. The initiative is currently in the early stages of development, with no official launch schedule announced.
