Blue Origin has officially postponed the next launch of its heavy-lift New Glenn rocket until January 2027. The company previously aimed to resume flight operations before the end of 2026, but ongoing repairs to the launch infrastructure have necessitated a schedule adjustment.
CEO Dave Limp informed employees of the delay in a recent internal memo. The restoration work at the Cape Canaveral launch site has been hampered by adverse weather conditions experienced throughout the summer months, leading to a timeline shift of approximately ten days from the original plan.
The current recovery efforts follow a rocket explosion that occurred during ground testing in May. Prior to the incident, the vehicle was scheduled to deploy 48 satellites for Amazon's Leo internet service. Despite the setback, the company maintains that returning New Glenn to service remains its primary objective.
