BitGo has launched an innovation unit named BitGo Labs to develop financial infrastructure for AI agents. The company aims to position itself as a provider of services for an economy increasingly driven by automated systems.
The new unit builds upon previous AI-focused releases from 2026. On March 23, 2026, the company introduced the Model Context Protocol Server, enabling AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and VS Code to query BitGo documentation.
On August 12, 2026, BitGo launched BitGo Assist, a search tool for institutional users that supports natural-language queries. The company notes that 20-40% of its internal code generation is currently assisted by AI.
Despite these developments, BitGo maintains strict human oversight. The current AI interfaces do not allow for the execution or approval of financial transactions, keeping final control with human users.
