Meanwhile, a Bermuda-based life insurance provider operating exclusively in Bitcoin, has secured $37.5 million in a new funding round. The investment was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with participation from existing backers including Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital.

This latest injection of capital brings the total amount raised by the company to over $180 million. The insurer counts OpenAI CEO Sam Altman among its notable backers. The company plans to use these funds to meet the growing international demand for its Bitcoin-denominated life insurance policies, which has been rising in regions such as Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

The firm offers specialized products for high-net-worth individuals, including the BTC Life 1-Pay policy launched in early 2026 for clients outside the United States, and the BTC 10-Pay product tailored for US taxpayers. These policies are designed to facilitate estate planning and succession for individuals, trusts, and companies holding digital assets.

According to the company, its net long-term underwriting income has already exceeded the total recorded for the previous year. The insurer expects this figure to more than double by the end of 2026. CEO Zac Townsend noted that the company is scaling its operations to provide a regulated mechanism for wealthy families to manage and transfer their Bitcoin holdings.
