New York-based startup Birch Hill has secured $4 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Multicoin Capital, with participation from ParaFi Capital, Castle Island Ventures, and Nascent.

The company aims to bring real-world assets, including multifamily housing, agriculture, and energy loans, onto public blockchains. The long-term strategy involves securitizing these loans into investable products.

Birch Hill has already launched its first product, the Birch Hill RWA USDC Vault, which operates on the Base blockchain. The vault utilizes Morpho lending infrastructure and Yearn v3 standards.

The current vault allows lenders to provide USDC, while borrowers use GRO tokens tied to a US multifamily real estate investment trust as collateral. Access is limited to accredited investors.

The startup previously raised $2.5 million in a pre-seed round, which also included backing from ParaFi Capital and Castle Island Ventures. The team consists of former executives from firms like Goldman Sachs and BlackRock.
