Binance excluded nearly three hours of price data from its funding rate calculations for perpetual contracts linked to US stocks on October 21, 2026. The adjustment followed network connectivity issues at Blue Ocean, an alternative trading system used for overnight equity data.
The data disruption occurred between 03:46 UTC and 06:30 UTC, affecting approximately 2 hours and 44 minutes of information. Binance omitted these premium index readings from the funding settlement that took place at 08:00 UTC on the same day.
The exchange stated that the move was a standard adjustment to address data discrepancies caused by the external feed failure. Binance confirmed that trading on its platform was not halted, and no user positions were liquidated or frozen as a result of the change.
Binance utilizes external feeds like Blue Ocean to maintain continuous price indices for its perpetual contracts during hours when traditional markets are closed. The platform currently offers perpetual contracts covering equities, ETFs, and commodities.
