Bank of America has shifted its strategy toward artificial intelligence, moving from initial skepticism to active financing. In July, the bank established a $520 million credit line for OpenAI, positioning itself as one of the startup's primary lenders.
The institution has committed to investing $250 billion in critical infrastructure, including data centers and computing power, through mid-2027. This initiative aims to support clients in meeting rising demand for energy, manufacturing, and supply chain capacity.
Since 2025, the bank has helped raise nearly $500 billion for AI-related firms. This figure represents 60% of total fundraising across investment-grade debt, leveraged finance, and equity capital markets.
The bank also participated in the public listing of SpaceX as a joint bookrunner, managing U.S. retail distribution. Meanwhile, major tech firms like Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle have doubled their debt load to $350 billion over five years to fund AI infrastructure.
