Baidu has officially launched the V22 version of its mapping service, as announced by Vice President Xie Tian at the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress. The update introduces significant enhancements to navigation capabilities, including Lane-Level Navigation 4.0, SR Navigation 2.0, and a comprehensive global escort system.
Lane-Level Navigation 4.0 now covers internal roads in residential and industrial parks, aiming to bridge the gap for parking navigation. The system supports over one million parking lots, providing guidance from the start of a trip to the specific parking spot. Additionally, the update improves the visual representation of seven types of terrain and two seasonal variations.
SR Navigation 2.0 integrates real-time vehicle perception with road data, extending its functionality from public roads into parking facilities. It utilizes AI-generated rendering to offer various visual styles for road information. The new global escort system provides over 30 types of safety alerts, detecting major road anomalies in seconds to warn drivers.
The V22 update integrates advanced AI features for search, route planning, and travel assistance. Users can now use natural language to request complex routes or multi-stop itineraries. The AI assistant can also provide real-time information on tourist attractions, weather conditions, and traffic, while offering personalized route adjustments based on previous user travel history.
