Amazon Web Services is reportedly planning a 15% price increase for its EC2 Capacity Blocks for Machine Learning, effective October 7, 2026. This potential hike follows a series of adjustments to reserved GPU compute pricing throughout the year.

The company previously raised prices for instances running NVIDIA H200 GPUs by approximately 15% in January 2026, followed by a further 20% increase on July 1, 2026. These changes specifically target reserved capacity rather than standard on-demand instances.

Following the July update, the hourly rate for the p5e.48xlarge instance rose to approximately $39 in most regions, while reaching $49.74 in the US West region. These regional price disparities force companies to factor costs into their workload placement strategies.

EC2 Capacity Blocks allow customers to reserve GPU capacity up to eight weeks in advance and share these resources across multiple accounts. In March 2026, Amazon announced plans to deploy over one million NVIDIA GPUs within the following year.
