The new Audi Q9 flagship SUV features curved digital OLED taillights, marking a world-first implementation of this technology. The system utilizes six glass panels, each measuring 0.1 millimeters in thickness, which wrap around the vehicle's rear quarter panels.

The lighting assembly consists of 512 individually controllable segments. Specifically, each outer panel contains 99 segments, each central panel has 84, and each inner panel features 73. The total thickness of the light element is one millimeter.

These OLED lights connect to the vehicle's electrical control unit via a bus system, allowing for independent segment management. This design improves visibility for drivers approaching from side angles compared to traditional flat-panel lights.

Audi integrates the rear OLED system with digital Matrix LED headlights. The vehicle can project stylized turn-signal patterns onto the road surface, a feature previously previewed on the Q7 model.

While Audi has confirmed the hardware specifications, details regarding user customization options and market-specific lighting sequences remain undisclosed. Pricing and availability details are expected closer to the market launch.
