New spy photos from Autohome reveal the front design of the upcoming BYD Yangwang flagship sedan, currently known by the project codename HU. The vehicle features an upright, rectangular grille and vertically arranged split headlamps, distinguishing it from the lower-profile Yangwang U7. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is visible above the windshield, though the final driver-assistance features remain unconfirmed.
The sedan measures approximately 5,500 mm in length and appears to be equipped with rear-hinged coach doors. While the manufacturer has not released technical specifications, the model is expected to utilize BYD’s e4 quad-motor architecture and DiSus active suspension system, consistent with other vehicles in the Yangwang lineup.
General Manager of the Yangwang Sales Division, Hu Xiaoqing, confirmed on October 21 that the sedan will debut in the United Arab Emirates, though specific dates and venues are pending. The vehicle was previously teased in silhouette images released on September 23.
Market estimates suggest a price point exceeding ¥2,000,000, or approximately $299,600. This valuation positions the sedan significantly higher than the JAC-Huawei Maextro S800, which retails between ¥728,000 and ¥1,018,000. The final retail name and production specifications have not been disclosed.
Industry reports have linked the project to potential solid-state battery technology. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li previously stated that the company aims to deploy solid-state battery technology in a vehicle by 2027, with FinDreams Battery planning small-batch trials for that year and large-scale commercial production by 2030.
