Starting October 21, 2026, Audi became the first automaker to integrate a fully native Spotify application into its vehicle infotainment systems. This implementation eliminates the need for Bluetooth pairing, cables, or phone tethering, as the app operates directly through the car's built-in software.

The native app is available on vehicles built on Audi's Premium Platform Electric and Premium Platform Combustion architectures. Initial models include the Audi A6 E-Tron, Q6 E-Tron, and the 2026 A5, Q5, and A6. The manufacturer plans to expand this feature to additional current and future models on these platforms over time.

Installation is performed via the Audi Application Store, requiring a Spotify Free or Premium account. Audi intends to roll out the functionality across 47 global markets, including regions in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Regional availability and specific feature sets may vary.

The system enforces driver distraction protocols by restricting certain visual elements while the vehicle is in motion. Core playback controls and voice commands remain accessible, while video content, lyrics, and settings are reserved for when the car is stationary or charging. Vehicles equipped with a separate passenger display allow full access to these features for passengers while the car is moving.
