Audi plans to establish its first manufacturing site in the United States, investing $4 billion into a new factory located in Georgia. The project aims to create 4,500 jobs and will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with operations expected to start in the early 2030s.
The facility will focus on producing premium SUVs specifically for the North American market, likely including the next-generation Q7, the Q9, and potentially the Q8. By manufacturing locally, Audi intends to reduce logistics costs and avoid import tariffs on vehicles sold to American customers.
This investment occurs alongside the VW Group's separate $2 billion project in South Carolina for Scout Motors, which will also have a capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Despite ongoing cost-cutting measures across the VW Group, the company has opted for a dedicated Audi plant to support its long-term growth strategy in the region.
