Asus has launched the ROG Zoom Ethernet cable, which complies with the Category 8 standard. The product is currently available for purchase in China, with the 1.5-meter version priced at ¥299 (approximately $41) and the 3-meter version at ¥399 (approximately $55).
The cable supports a data transfer rate of up to 40 Gbps and operates at a frequency of 2000 MHz. According to the manufacturer, this performance is four times higher than that of Category 7 cables, which are limited to 10 Gbps and 600 MHz.
The ROG Zoom is constructed using 26AWG oxygen-free copper and features eight twisted pairs. To ensure signal integrity and reduce interference, the design incorporates double shielding (E/STP). The exterior is finished with a durable, abrasion-resistant braided jacket.
The RJ45 connectors are equipped with gold-plated copper shielding elements to prevent corrosion and wear. Asus markets this cable for competitive gaming environments where low latency and signal stability are critical. Information regarding a global release has not yet been provided.
