In June 2025, during the WWDC conference, Apple introduced SwiftJava, a toolset designed to facilitate the integration between the Swift and Java ecosystems. The primary goal of this initiative is to simplify the porting of code between these two technologies, enabling developers to use libraries from one language within the other.

The SwiftJava package includes two main libraries. JavaKit provides Swift macros and tools that generate Swift source code for calling Java code, allowing developers to integrate Java libraries into Swift projects. Conversely, SwiftKit enables the use of Swift types within Java environments, which facilitates the utilization of Swift libraries on the Android platform.

Apple claims that these tools allow for a seamless conversion process, enabling developers to transform Java libraries into Swift libraries and vice versa with minimal effort. The company demonstrated the functionality by porting several Java libraries to Swift during the initial announcement.
