Apple has released the iOS 27.2 developer beta, featuring a redesigned Health app. This update integrates Apple Intelligence to analyze data from Apple Watch, iPhone, and other devices, providing personalized health guidance. The new features are expected to launch later this year, rather than with the official iOS 27.2 release.
The app introduces an 'Insights' tab that uses AI to generate summaries of health metrics, such as sleep quality and VO2 max. It offers tailored advice based on individual goals, such as adjusting workout intensity based on recovery status. Additionally, a 'Readiness' score, ranging from 0 to 10, will be available when paired with a new Apple Watch, categorizing user status from recovery to peak performance.
The update expands vital sign analysis, including a new day-night view and enhanced heart rate variability (HRV) tracking for stress management. A 'Longevity' module has been added to assess long-term health across dimensions like cardiovascular fitness, sleep, mental health, and metabolism. This section includes a 'Health Age' feature that compares biological markers against chronological age.
Apple plans to introduce home health assessment tools, including a camera-based VO2 max test that uses visual recognition and Apple Watch heart rate data. Future updates will also include deep assessments for flexibility, strength, and balance. This shift marks a transition for the Health app from a data repository to an active, AI-driven health management platform.
