Apple has officially discontinued the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the foldable iPhone Duo. The devices have been removed from all official online and physical Apple Store channels, marking the end of their one-year production cycle.
The company maintains a strategy of removing previous Pro models from official sales to prevent internal competition with the new lineup, which starts at $1099 and $1199. Unlike standard models, the Pro series is designed to uphold a premium price point and showcase the latest technology.
The iPhone 17 Pro series, launched in autumn 2025, featured the A19 Pro chip built on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, 12GB of RAM, and an advanced vapor chamber cooling system. These models were among the best-selling premium smartphones during their market tenure.
While official sales have ceased, the devices remain available through third-party retailers, carriers, and e-commerce platforms, which are clearing existing inventory. Apple will continue to provide software updates, including the upcoming iOS 27, security patches, and hardware repair services.
The current Apple smartphone lineup now features the new iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Duo at the top end. The mid-range segment is currently supported by the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, and iPhone Air, as the standard iPhone 18 release is delayed until spring 2027.
