Apple has detailed the Siri Recap feature for Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The tool uses Apple Intelligence to generate summaries of daily conversations, which are automatically deleted after 7 days if not saved by the user.
The feature must be manually enabled via the Watch app on an iPhone. Users can configure schedules based on time or location, or toggle the function on and off directly from the Control Center.
Audio data is processed within the Secure Exclave, a hardware-isolated area of the S11 chip. Summaries are generated using Apple's Private Cloud Compute, ensuring that neither Apple nor third parties can access the content.
Siri Recap creates short summaries rather than verbatim transcripts. It filters out sensitive information, such as financial data and government IDs, as well as harmful content like hate speech or self-harm references.
While summaries may include names mentioned during conversations, the system does not identify individual speakers. The feature is designed to help users recall key points from their day without needing to focus on note-taking.
