Apple has acquired assets from Samplab, a Zurich-based AI audio editing startup founded in 2020 by Manuel Fritsche and Gian-Marco Hutter. As part of the deal, Apple has extended job offers to some of the startup's employees. The company was small, with reports suggesting it had fewer than 10 staff members, potentially consisting only of its two founders.

Samplab specialized in AI-driven music production tools. Its software allowed users to modify individual notes within audio files, identify and edit chords, and perform precise track separation. These capabilities align with Apple's existing strategy for its professional audio software, Logic Pro.

Since 2024, Logic Pro has featured AI-powered track separation, enabling users to isolate vocals, guitars, and drums. Apple is expected to integrate Samplab's technology to enhance these existing features and introduce new tools for editing individual notes within chords.
