Anthropic has introduced a beta version of updated Projects within Claude Code. The new architecture shifts from a folder-based structure to a single, ongoing conversation where Claude acts as a coordinator. Users describe tasks, and the system automatically determines which parts of the work require dedicated threads.

Each thread operates as an independent cloud session running on its own Git branch and repository copy. These threads function in parallel and continue to execute even after the user closes their laptop. The coordinator manages the high-level conversation while threads handle specific execution tasks.

Threads are capable of opening pull requests, applying auto-fixes when CI checks fail, and delegating sub-tasks to agents. If multiple threads modify the same code, the system surfaces the overlap as a standard Git merge conflict. Users are limited to a maximum of 200 new threads per day across all projects.
