Jack Clark, co-founder of Anthropic, stated that AI development could increase the US GDP to $44 trillion by 2030. This growth is expected to stem from accelerated scientific breakthroughs and the emergence of entirely new economic sectors.
Clark emphasized the need for common-sense regulatory standards to foster trust and economic development. He noted that Anthropic has already granted third-party experts access to key stages of its AI model development process.
Addressing concerns about job losses in sectors like customer support, Clark argued that AI will simultaneously drive demand for new roles in science and research. He highlighted the necessity of prioritizing safety to prevent malicious uses, such as the creation of biological weapons.
The executive urged global corporations and startups to embrace creative destruction, suggesting that organizations must be prepared to restructure their operations to integrate AI safely. He added that countries aiming to participate in this technological shift must invest in building data centers.
