American Battery Solutions, a subsidiary of Komatsu, has launched the Aventor 800 V battery platform. The system is designed for heavy-duty commercial and industrial vehicles, with assembly taking place in the US using domestic cells to meet Build America, Buy America requirements.
The platform features an energy density of 300 Wh/L and a specific energy of up to 200 Wh/kg, with a total storage capacity of 113 kWh and 358 kW peak discharge power. It supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in 42 minutes or less, facilitating high-utilization operations.
The architecture includes two form factors: a standard Chassis-Integrated Pack and a Hyper-Rugged Cube Pack for extreme mechanical conditions. Both versions utilize a wire-free battery management system with onboard diagnostics, cybersecurity features, and over-the-air update capabilities.
The system is rated for a 10-year design life and meets safety standards including ASIL-C, FMVSS 305a, UL 2580, and ECE R100. The enclosures are certified to IP67 and IP69K standards for protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure washing.
Customer samples are scheduled for 2027, with full-scale production expected to begin in the first quarter of 2028. The initial manufacturing capacity is set at 6,000 battery packs per year, which corresponds to approximately 0.7 GWh of total energy output.
