An engineering sample of the unreleased AMD Ryzen 9 5900X3D processor was discovered in China. The prototype, identified by the marking 100-000000652, features 12 Zen 3 cores and a total of 128 MB of L3 cache, utilizing 3D V-Cache technology.

The chip architecture consists of two CCDs with six active cores each. Each CCD provides 32 MB of L3 cache, while an additional 3D V-Cache die adds 64 MB. For comparison, the retail Ryzen 7 5800X3D includes 96 MB of L3 cache, and the standard Ryzen 9 5900X has 64 MB.

The prototype operates at a frequency of 3.3 GHz with a TDP of 105 W. Initial testing on an ASRock X370 motherboard required a BIOS update to ensure the system would boot correctly. This discovery confirms that AMD experimented with various 3D V-Cache configurations for the AM4 platform.
