TSMC has notified its clients of a price increase for chip manufacturing services by approximately 10 percent due to rising production costs. As AMD relies on TSMC for the majority of its chip production, this shift in foundry costs is expected to impact the company's profit margins.
According to industry reports, AMD has informed its partners of a plan to raise prices across its entire chip product portfolio by about 10 percent. The implementation of this new pricing strategy is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The planned price adjustments are expected to cover a wide range of products, including AI accelerator chips, consumer-grade GPUs, and motherboard chipsets. While there is no official confirmation regarding Ryzen processors, the high dependency on TSMC manufacturing keeps the possibility of future price hikes for CPUs open.
AMD is not the only company adjusting its pricing strategy. Intel has recently announced plans to increase the prices of its client processors, citing a focus on higher-margin products. Consumers may face rising costs across various hardware components, including CPUs, GPUs, and memory, in the coming period.
