Amazon has rebranded its Kindle Unlimited subscription service to Kindle Plus. The update introduces thousands of audiobooks to the US market, including titles produced via the Audiobook Creation Exchange and those generated using the company's Virtual Voice AI technology.

Despite the name change, the subscription cost remains unchanged, with the monthly fee in the US staying at $11.99. The core service benefits also remain consistent, allowing members to borrow up to 20 titles simultaneously from a catalog of e-books, comics, and magazines without fixed return deadlines.

The platform ensures that existing users retain their reading history, bookmarks, notes, and progress. While the Virtual Voice technology allows independent authors to convert text into audiobooks without hiring professional narrators, the integration of AI-generated content has sparked debate regarding the quality of the listening experience compared to human narration.
