Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman published a 3,000-word blog post urging public support for AI data center projects. He warned that blocking these developments could cause long-term damage to the US economy and national security, arguing that the nation must maintain its lead in the global AI race.

The company reports that over 100 moratoriums on data center construction are currently under consideration across the United States. Garman stated that these measures could hinder the country's technological progress for generations, noting that foreign entities may be spreading misinformation to slow down domestic infrastructure growth.

Amazon introduced a new Data Center Commitment, which outlines plans to create jobs and prevent local energy rate hikes. The company pledged to invest more than $1 billion in communities located near its data center facilities to address public concerns regarding environmental and social impacts.

The company also announced it will stop using nondisclosure agreements with government agencies. David Zapolsky, chief global affairs and legal officer at Amazon, stated that the industry's historical reliance on secrecy is no longer appropriate and that local officials should be transparent with their constituents.
