Akuity Inc. has launched the Agentic Control Plane, a new layer designed to integrate AI agents into software delivery pipelines while maintaining existing security permissions. The platform ensures that every agent request is authenticated as the specific user who connected it, eliminating the need for shared service accounts and providing a clear audit trail for all actions performed within production environments.

The company also introduced the Akuity MCP Server, which utilizes the Model Context Protocol to connect agents to the platform. This system allows agents to access operational records, including deployment history and cluster health. A policy layer sits above the control plane, enabling teams to restrict sensitive actions even if the user has general clearance to perform them.

Major League Baseball is currently using the platform. According to principal DevOps engineer Michael Goodness, the control plane identified over 100 degraded applications shortly after activation and traced a systemic issue to its root cause in less than 10 minutes. The system also includes an On-Call Agent capable of analyzing logs and recent changes to suggest fixes for incidents.

Akuity was established by the creators of the open-source projects Argo CD and Kargo. In 2022, the company secured $20 million in a Series A funding round led by Lead Edge Capital. The platform began incorporating AI automation features in September of the previous year, focusing on the delivery and promotion of infrastructure changes to production environments.
