Enterprise audit teams face challenges as AI agents automate decision-making processes, replacing traditional evidence trails like email threads and Slack messages. This shift complicates audit procedures in regulated industries, where tracking human judgment was previously straightforward.

Josh Robinson, chief audit executive at Vast Space LLC, highlighted that the primary risk lies in the lack of visibility into automated workflows. He emphasizes that auditors must rely on established principles of completeness and accuracy to validate data processed by AI agents.

Accountability remains with the individual signing off on the work, regardless of the tools used. For companies like Vast Space, which manages astronaut safety and regulatory requirements, control gaps carry significant consequences beyond financial reporting.

Workiva Inc. aims to address these gaps through its AI agents and Knowledge intelligence layer. The platform integrates data from various sources, including NetSuite, HR systems, and data lakes, to create a unified layer for audit and operational tasks.

Robinson, a Workiva customer since 2017, noted that the platform allows companies to connect multiple data silos and deploy agents to solve specific business problems. These insights were shared during the Amplify conference.
