Zhipu AI has announced a new data privacy feature for its MaaS platform, allowing enterprise and developer users to opt for a non-retention policy. Once activated, the platform will not store user inputs or outputs, using data solely for the duration of the specific model call.
Users can request access to this feature through the MaaS console, with the platform confirming the activation timeline and scope. However, this policy does not apply to all services. Functions requiring persistent storage, such as Batch API and File API, remain excluded from the non-retention mechanism.
The company clarified that it may still retain data for at least 30 days if required by law or to investigate potential misuse or policy violations. This update follows recent community concerns regarding ZCode, a Zhipu programming tool, which allegedly uploaded code repositories without user consent.
Zhipu addressed the ZCode incident on September 18, stating that the issue stemmed from a local repository indexing feature. The company confirmed that the bug has been fixed and announced plans to open-source the code library and introduce third-party security audits.
