Speaking at the 2026 Chongli Forum on November 12, New Oriental founder Yu Minhong discussed the economic impact of artificial intelligence. He noted that while AI will generate numerous new employment opportunities, it simultaneously threatens to replace roles centered on repetitive tasks.
Yu Minhong compared the current technological shift to the Industrial Revolution, emphasizing that the pace of change is significantly more intense. He highlighted that AI is accelerating the concentration of wealth among a very small group of individuals.
The founder pointed out that market capitalizations for AI-related public companies have reached hundreds of billions to trillions of yuan. However, he argued that this capital does not reach the general public, potentially leading to a widening gap between the wealthy and the rest of society.
