Users of the YouTube mobile application have reported a significant technical issue that limits video playback quality to a maximum of 480p. The bug affects both free users and those with active YouTube Premium subscriptions, preventing them from selecting higher resolutions.
Reports of this malfunction began appearing on Reddit at least one month ago. While some users claim that clearing the application cache or performing a clean reinstallation resolves the issue, others report that these steps remain ineffective and the 480p restriction persists.
The root cause of the problem remains unidentified, and Google has not yet provided an official acknowledgment or a definitive fix. Affected users are currently waiting for the company to address the bug through server-side updates or a new version of the mobile application.
