YouTube has announced a new feature called custom feeds, which allows users to curate their own video recommendations using natural language prompts. The tool utilizes Google’s Gemini AI model to process user requests, enabling detailed instructions on content preferences, priorities, and exclusions.
Once generated, these custom feeds appear as pinned tabs at the top of the YouTube home page. The company clarified that this functionality serves as an addition to the main recommendation feed rather than a replacement, allowing users to switch between different content streams within the app.
The feature supports the creation of multiple custom feeds across both web and mobile platforms. YouTube plans to begin the rollout of this capability starting next month. The initiative aligns with broader industry trends, as platforms like Bluesky, Meta, and Spotify have also introduced similar AI-driven feed customization tools.
