Animoca Brands chairman Yat Siu warns that relying on AI agents for crypto trading carries significant risks. While these tools can operate 24/7, users do not control the underlying services, meaning they could lose access to their accounts and accumulated data at any time.

Siu suggests that users should treat AI assistants as third-party advisers rather than fully autonomous managers. He emphasizes the importance of data portability, noting that users should be able to download their history to transfer it to other agents if a service is suspended.

Technical limitations remain a challenge, as agents may struggle with context when handling diverse tasks. Siu recommends using multiple specialized agents instead of a single all-purpose bot to avoid confusion and improve performance.

Market regulators are also monitoring the impact of AI in finance. In April 2025, the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee warned that widespread use of similar models could amplify market shocks by causing investors to take identical positions.

Major industry players are already integrating these capabilities. Coinbase introduced Agentic Wallets in February, and Binance launched AI Agent Skills in March, providing tools for agents to manage spot orders and access live market data.
