Yandex Maps has introduced offline navigation for public transport, allowing users to plan routes for buses, trams, and other city transit without an internet connection. The feature includes access to stop locations, transfer details, schedules, and estimated travel times.
This update completes the suite of offline navigation tools in the application, which already supported driving, cycling, and walking routes. To utilize these features, users must download the offline map for a specific region in advance.
The application automatically updates public transport schedules on a weekly basis whenever an internet connection is available. This ensures that users have access to current data regarding transit stops and transfer points while offline.
Public transport navigation is the second most popular feature in Yandex Maps and Yandex Navigator, serving over 26 million users monthly. Additionally, the number of offline map downloads increased by 24% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
