Yandex has updated its Maps application to support offline navigation for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Users can now plan routes and receive turn-by-turn guidance without an active internet connection, provided they download the relevant regional map data in advance.
The offline mode also includes public transport features, such as route planning, stop information, transfer details, and transit schedules. Map data and transit schedules are updated automatically once a week when the device connects to the internet.
According to Yandex, over 26 million people use its public transport navigation services monthly. In the first half of 2026, the number of offline map downloads increased by 24% compared to the same period in 2025, amid ongoing mobile internet restrictions in Russia.
To address GPS signal interference, Yandex introduced a step-by-step navigation mode in December 2025. This feature allows users to view routes as a sequence of maneuvers. Additionally, the app now supports manual location pinning if navigation systems are unavailable.
