Yandex has expanded its driver alert system for school zones, now covering approximately 54,700 educational institutions across Russia. This represents an increase of about 4,000 locations compared to the previous year, driven by the construction of new schools and broader geographic coverage in Yandex Maps and Navigator.
The Moscow region leads with 10,254 monitored school zones. Other regions with significant coverage include the Krasnodar Territory with 3,100 locations, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region with 2,381, and Tatarstan with 1,965. The Sverdlovsk Region and Bashkortostan follow with 1,603 and 1,407 locations, respectively.
Data analysis shows a seasonal spike in user engagement with school profiles in Yandex Maps around the start of the academic year. During the first weeks of September, daily profile views for gymnasiums and lyceums increased by approximately 60% and 59% respectively, compared to the surrounding weeks. Private and primary schools also saw interest grow by 53% and 51%.
