The government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and Rostelecom have signed a memorandum to construct a new data center. The project will start with a capacity of 2.5 MW, with plans to scale it up to 100 MW in the future.

The facility is designed to support state digital services, big data processing, and artificial intelligence computing tasks. Currently, the republic operates two data centers with a combined capacity of approximately 0.5 MW, a figure that has remained stable over the last three years.

The project leverages Yakutia's climate for natural cooling, which is expected to reduce annual electricity consumption by up to 16%. Additionally, developers plan to utilize local natural gas for on-site power generation to lower operational costs and improve computational efficiency.

The region has identified 78 artificial intelligence projects involving government bodies, universities, and local tech parks, with an estimated demand for 17 TB of GPU capacity. The new data center aims to serve both regional needs and clients from other parts of Russia.
