Scientists at the Arctic Research Center of Yakutia are developing a digital model for the Yana winter road. This project, part of the Vostochny Meridian initiative, aims to automate road condition monitoring and identify hazardous sections using artificial intelligence and mobile diagnostic systems.
The digital twin will serve as a foundation for future autonomous logistics and the deployment of robotic road maintenance equipment in the Arctic. The technology is intended to enable proactive safety management by predicting potential accident hotspots based on traffic data analysis.
The initial phase covers the Topolinoye-Prognoz-Batagay-Ust-Kuiga route. The Vostochny Meridian project focuses on developing transport infrastructure in central Arctic Yakutia with access to the Northern Sea Route, including plans for an extended-season winter road by 2030.
The research is supported by the Russian Science Foundation and involves creating a system for data collection and processing. These solutions will also provide a scientific basis for the future construction and operation of a permanent, year-round road along the Yana route.
