The YADRO and C++ Russia meetup featured technical presentations on C++20 coroutines, actor system migration, and the KvadraOS operating system. Alexei Makarenya from Kaspersky Lab discussed a practical case of migrating a mature actor system to C++20 coroutines without halting development, including creating a custom coroutine library and gRPC API.
Ilya Klementyev, an engineer at YADRO, presented on the use of select and poll system calls for asynchronous I/O within KvadraOS. The session covered the implementation of awaiter and PromiseType mechanisms and detailed the application of coroutines for asynchronous DBus calls in the KvadraOS Desktop environment.
The event introduced Northstar, a minimalist open-source web browser written from scratch in C. The project consists of approximately 170,000 lines of original code, operates without third-party engines like Gecko, WebKit, or Blink, and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0.
YADRO launched a weekly newsletter titled Ghost in the code, focusing on legacy code management. The project features seven contributors, including Konstantin Vladimirov, Andrey Karpov, and Anton Polukhin. Weekly emails are scheduled until October 27, with a consolidated PDF archive available to subscribers on November 3.
