Xiaomi has unveiled the Door and Window Sensor 3, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin on October 12. During the initial launch phase, the device will be priced at ¥44, while the standard retail price is set at ¥49.

The sensor replaces the Hall effect sensor used in previous models with a high-sensitivity tunnel magnetoresistive sensor. This upgrade improves response speed and reduces power consumption, allowing the device to operate for up to three years on a single CR2032 battery, assuming 30 activations per day.

The unit is designed for doors, windows, drawers, and cabinets. It integrates with Bluetooth Mesh to provide remote status updates and usage statistics via the Mi Home app, which also sends alerts when the battery level is low.

The device supports HyperOS Connect for home automation scenarios, such as toggling lights or air conditioning based on door or window status. It also monitors for abnormal activity and sends notifications if a door or window remains open for too long, though the new version no longer includes an ambient light sensor.
