Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Smart Dual-Control Clothes Drying Rack 2, a ceiling-mounted device that combines a laundry rack with an integrated light fixture. The product will be available for crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Youpin platform starting September 21, with a retail price set at ¥1399.
The unit features a 49.8-inch frameless light panel with a power output of 50 W and a luminous flux of 3000 lm. The lighting system utilizes full-spectrum LEDs with a color rendering index of 97. Users can adjust brightness and color temperature, ranging from 2700 K to 5700 K, via the Mijia mobile application.
The drying rack is designed with a 7 cm thick housing. Its primary feature is a set of retractable rods that hide behind the light panel when not in use. The system supports a maximum load of 40 kg and provides a 114 cm distance between the two rods. Two independent motors allow the rods to move separately, enabling multi-level drying.
Integration with the Mijia ecosystem allows the device to participate in automated smart home scenarios. For instance, the rack can be programmed to lower automatically once a connected washing machine completes its cycle.
