Xiaomi has listed its new Mijia metal suitcase on the Youpin platform. The crowdfunding campaign for the product is scheduled to begin on October 21, with a price set at ¥1 699. The suitcase will be available in silver and titanium gold color options.
The suitcase is constructed using a 6-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy frame and a 5-series aluminum-magnesium alloy shell, utilizing a rivet-free assembly process. The manufacturing process involves approximately 150 stages to ensure material and structural integrity.
The product features silent universal wheels developed in collaboration with HINOMOTO, which have received SGS certification. Laboratory tests indicate that after 72 kilometers of use, wheel wear is less than 2 millimeters and noise levels remain below 43 decibels. The wheels also passed durability tests at six times the national standard.
The telescopic handle is made of 6-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy and supports four height adjustments. It is rated for 18 000 cycles of use and has passed fatigue testing at six times the national standard. The suitcase offers a capacity of 37 liters, designed for short trips of 3 to 5 days.
The interior features a dual-sided U-shaped zipper design with antimicrobial lining. Security is provided by a centralized TSA lock that allows both latches to be opened with a single press. Additional features include zinc alloy corner protectors, a slow-rebound handle, and synthetic leather grips.
