System integrator X-Com has completed a project to install an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for a molecular beam epitaxy system at the Ioffe Institute. The equipment was manufactured by the Russian company Bastion.
The molecular beam epitaxy process requires continuous power to maintain precise layer thickness during the growth of semiconductor structures. Power failures can disrupt molecular flow intensity, leading to defects in the materials produced for microelectronics.
The scope of work performed by X-Com included the installation of the UPS, electrical wiring, and system commissioning. The project was completed according to the planned schedule.
The institute and the integrator have planned for future maintenance of the system. Specifically, the batteries within the installed UPS units are scheduled for replacement in two to three years.
