The 48th WorldSkills Competition is taking place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27. This year, the event features 64 competition categories, with eight directly related to artificial intelligence, marking a record high for the event.

Three new AI-focused categories have been introduced: smart security technology, software testing, and digital interactive media design. These additions reflect the integration of deep learning, large models, and autonomous agents into professional skill assessments.

Other AI-integrated categories include autonomous mobile robotics, Industry 4.0, cloud computing, network security, and 3D digital game art. These fields require participants to demonstrate skills in machine learning, digital twins, and autonomous navigation.

The Chinese delegation consists of 220 members, including 71 competitors participating in all 64 categories. The competitors represent 21 provinces, with an average age of 21 years. The group includes 49 students and 22 employees, ranging from 18 to 25 years old.
