Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have introduced a proposal for a spot Zcash ETF through their new issuer, Winklevoss Asset Services. The company filed a preliminary S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on October 6, 2026. If approved, the fund will trade on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK.
The proposed ETF is designed to hold ZEC tokens directly. Gemini Trust Company, an affiliate of the founders, is designated as the custodian for the assets in cold storage. Cypherpunk Technologies will serve as the Zcash Ecosystem Partner, providing support for protocol information and voting processes.
The Winklevoss proposal aims to compete with the existing Grayscale Zcash ETF, which trades under the ticker ZCSH. While the Grayscale product charges a 2.5% fee, the new fund intends to offer a significantly lower rate of 0.25%. Grayscale launched its product on August 25, 2026, and reported nearly $890 million in assets after its first month.
Winklevoss Capital Fund has indicated a non-binding interest in purchasing up to $100 million in shares once the ETF launches. This move follows the twins' long-standing involvement with Zcash, as Gemini was the first exchange to offer ZEC trading. The proposal remains subject to SEC review and further regulatory procedures.
