Winklevoss Asset Services, LLC, founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, submitted a Form S-1 registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on October 6, 2026. The firm aims to launch the Winklevoss Zcash ETF, which would hold ZEC tokens directly as a spot product.
If the SEC approves the application, the fund is expected to trade on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker WINK. The proposed structure utilizes a cash-create and cash-redeem model, where authorized participants provide dollars to the fund, which then manages the acquisition of the underlying ZEC assets.
The filing includes a partnership with Cypherpunk Technologies to provide services related to the Zcash network. Gemini, the exchange founded by the Winklevoss brothers, has provided custody and trading support for ZEC since 2018.
The new filing follows the launch of a competing Zcash ETF by Grayscale, which began trading on NYSE Arca on August 25, 2026, under the ticker ZCSH. Within approximately two weeks of its debut, the Grayscale fund accumulated over $500 million in assets under management.
Grayscale currently charges a 2.5% management fee for its Zcash product. The registration statement for the Winklevoss Zcash ETF does not yet specify a management fee. The regulatory environment for such products shifted in January 2026, when the SEC concluded its review of Zcash-related matters without enforcement.
