Developer NTDEV has released Pico11, a highly compressed version of Windows 11 that fits onto a standard 700 MB CD. The exact size of the installation image is 699 811 840 bytes.
The experimental build maintains a functional desktop environment. Basic applications such as Calculator, Settings, Notepad, and Paint remain operational, though the Task Manager appears to be a legacy version.
To achieve this size, the developer removed Windows Update and system maintenance services. NTDEV stated that this project is an experiment rather than a replacement for standard OS installations.
The developer is currently working on integrating Pico11 features into the existing Tiny11 project, which is hosted on GitHub. Tiny11 is known for creating compact Windows 11 images, ranging from stripped-down versions without a GUI to practical builds with reduced bloatware.
