Microsoft released the KB5124008 security update for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2 in early September. Users report that this update causes microphone malfunctions and sound playback failures, often accompanied by a Code 10 error in Device Manager.
The company plans to release an official fix on October 13 as part of the scheduled Patch Tuesday. A subsequent cumulative update, KB5129195, failed to resolve the audio issues and introduced new login complications for users within corporate domains.
The September security updates also triggered stability issues for AMD Radeon users, including black screens, monitor connection losses, and system freezes. Affected models include the RX 6600, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7900 XTX, and RX 9070 XT.
According to reports, rolling back the September OS updates is currently the only way to mitigate the GPU-related problems, as updating drivers does not provide a resolution. Microsoft has not disclosed the total number of affected users.
