Patrick Witt, the executive director of the White House Crypto Council, has announced his resignation. He is leaving the administration to pursue a new role within the private sector, as stated in his recent post on X.
Witt served as the primary advisor for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aimed to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for the US cryptocurrency market. The US Senate failed to pass a cloture motion on this legislation in September, making further progress during the current session unlikely.
His departure creates a leadership vacancy, as Witt was the last remaining staffer on the council. Previous high-profile exits include the departure of White House crypto and AI czar David Sacks in March, deputy director Harry Jung in July, and former executive director Bo Hines in August 2025.
