U.S. Representative Warren Davidson, founder of the Sound Money Caucus, highlighted the economic challenges facing the United States, specifically noting that the national debt has reached $40 trillion. He pointed out that the U.S. dollar has experienced a decline in purchasing power of approximately 30% since 2020.
During the discussion, Davidson addressed legislative topics including the Clarity Act and its potential impact on self-custody, as well as the American Reserve Modernization Act, which concerns U.S. government holdings of Bitcoin. He also expressed concerns regarding the development of central bank digital currencies and their implications for financial surveillance.
The congressman emphasized the importance of sound money and real assets for the country's economic future. He argued that rising inflation and default risks are contributing to higher interest rates, which may negatively affect individuals who do not hold real assets.
